Dr. Jhamandas’s initial discovery work occurred at the University of Alberta and the IP was later spun off into Egeiro Pharmaceuticals. Academic research activities related to his work with the amylin receptor continue within the University, leveraging the expertise from its scientific experts and teams.

Egeiro has leveraged the expertise in computational drug design and synthetic and medicinal chemistry at the Applied Virology Institute, the translation and commercialization hub of Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology, to screen, identify and synthesize small molecules able to inhibit the activity of the amylin receptor.

Egeiro is collaborating with Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation (API), one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit life sciences commercialization organizations. Supporting the full development lifecycle from early discovery to clinical and commercial manufacturing, API helps bring life-saving innovations to market.

Dr. Elizabeth Vadas, leveraging her extensive drug development and medicinal chemistry expertise at Merck, has provided Egeiro with critical input in terms of evaluation methodologies, characterization and lead candidate selection and formulation development strategy.
