Scientific excellence through collaboration.
Egeiro’s commitment to scientific excellence is fueled by numerous collaborations with academic subject-matter experts.
Advancing Research Through Strategic Collaborations
Dr. John Vederas & Dr. Conrad Fisher
We have established a collaboration with Dr. John Vederas, a Distinguished University Professor, and Dr. Conrad Fisher, both experienced chemists with extensive expertise in peptide chemistry. We leverage their support to enhance the stability, activity, and brain penetrability of the peptides that Dr. Jhamandas developed, patented, and demonstrated to be highly efficacious in previous studies.
Dr. Liang Li
We have collaborated with Dr. Liang Li, an experienced metabolomics and proteomics researcher at the University of Alberta. Together, we have identified metabolites in serum from transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease that show striking similarities to biomarkers identified from saliva derived from AD patients. These findings help monitor disease progression and evaluate therapeutic response in clinical development.
Dr. Joanne Lemieux & Dr. Raelynn Brassard
We have established a collaboration with Dr. Joanne Lemieux and Dr. Raelynn Brassard, experts in Cryo Electron Microscopy (CryoEM). Their work focuses on crystallizing the ectodomain of the AMY3R target protein, both independently and in combination with therapeutic candidates, to assess detailed three-dimensional structures and better understand binding mechanisms.
Dr. Fabrizio Giuliani & Dr. Maryam Nakhei-Nejad
We have collaborated with Dr. Fabrizio Giuliani and Dr. Maryam Nakhei-Nejad, who developed innovative human brain organoids derived from induced pluripotent stem cells. These advanced models allow us to study complex physiological processes and evaluate how our peptide and small molecule therapies impact the amylin receptor subtype 3 (AMY3) in conditions closely resembling in vivo environments.

Dr. John Vederas & Dr. Conrad Fisher — Peptide Chemistry
We have established a collaboration with Dr. John Vederas, a Distinguished University Professor and and Dr. Conrad Fisher, both experienced chemists with extensive expertise in the field of peptide chemistry. We will leverage their support to enhance the stability, activity, and brain penetrability of the peptides that Dr. Jhamandas developed, patented and found to be extremely efficacious in his previous studies.

Dr. Liang Li — Metabolomics & Biomarker Development
We have collaborated with Dr. Liang Li, an experienced metabolomics and proteomics researcher at the University of Alberta with experience in identifying metabolites secreted from the body (in blood, urine, saliva) and utilizing these data to develop biomarkers for a variety of diseases. In collaboration with Dr. Li, we have identified metabolites in the serum of transgenic mouse models of AD, which show striking similarities with those identified from saliva derived from AD patients. These suite of metabolites from AD mice are altered in response to in vivo and in vitro treatments with our compounds and these observations can help screen and monitor the progress of the disease in clinical trials and beyond.

Dr. Joanne Lemieux & Dr. Raelynn Brassard — CryoEM Structural Biology
We have established a collaboration with Dr. Joanne Lemieux, and Dr. Raelynn Brassard who are experts in Cryo Electron Microscopy (cryoEM), a sophisticated technique used to elucidate the three dimensional structure of proteins. Dr. Lemieux and and Dr. Brassard is crystallizing the ectodomain of the AMY3R target protein, alone and in combination with the therapies, and then assessing their 3D structure. This study will provide detailed information about the binding mechanism of the therapies under development with the active site of the protein.

Dr. Fabrizio Giuliani & Dr. Maryam Nakhei-Nejad — Brain Organoids
We have collaborated with Drs. Fabrizio Guilianni and Dr. Maryam Nakhei-Nejad who have developed an innovative lab-grown human brain organoid derived from induced pluripotent stem cells from fibroblasts from patients with and without Alzheimer’s. The use of organoids has enabled us to study complex physiological processes in structures bearing great resemblance to in vivo conditions, and have allowed us to evaluate the impact that our small molecule compounds and peptides have on the amylin receptor subtype 3 (AMY3).
